Based on The Blues Foundation's Blues in the Schools program, B.I.T.S. is designed to introduce students to the blues and educate them about the origins, styles and history of blues music through exciting, interactive presentations at your school. For those of you who haven’t yet participated in an OBBS event, you are really missing out. The feeling I got when I invited some of the students up to play the drums was totally indescribable!
I’ve performed for some great audiences over the course of my career but never one as enthusiastic as these students.
If you know of a school that could use a little “blues education” please get their email or phone number and contact Reno at:

Blues in the Schools gets high marks at Sabal Point Elementary.pdf
The Orange Blossom Blues Society’s “Blues In the Schools” made a big splash at Lake Mary Elementary on February 28th, 2011. Sheryl Shaffer, Lake Mary Elementary PTA President, requested the free presentation after being referred to Blues In the Schools by OBBS member John Dalton, who has a Son attending the school.
Bird Dog Bobby, Reno Mussatto, Gary Whitehead, Doc Williamson and Mike Papadopoulos entertained and educated over 800 students in two performances. OBBS members John Dalton and Kane Miller were also there taking video and helping move equipment.
Ms. Shaffer, who hosted the event at the school, said that the students and Faculty really enjoyed the music and learn a lot about the blues.
Pappa “D”, was probably the biggest hit of the day with his explanation of the term “Chicken Shack”. Check out the videos on You Tube at:
